The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection inspects and licenses more than 100,000 businesses and individuals throughout the United States. It analyzes a variety of laboratory samples, conducts law hearings and investigations, and educates businesses and consumers about law-related practices. The department has various divisions that include agricultural resource management, animal health, food safety, management services, agricultural development, office of the secretary, and trade and consumer protection. It provides an animal disease prevention and control program and offers protection against illegal telemarketers, dangerous products, incorrect checkout scanners and for gas pumps. It also regulates and provides agricultural products, including crops, livestock, fish farms, plant nurseries and Christmas tree farms. The department is affiliated with the state of Wisconsin, the Department of Tourism and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service. It is located in Madison, Wis.
