John Muir Elementary School, governed by the Madison Metropolitan School District, serves more than 450 students in kindergarten through grade five. The school s parent-teacher organization sponsors a variety of events, including science fairs, teacher appreciation programs, multicultural community dinners and spelling bee competitions. John Muir Elementary School administers the Student Achievement Guarantee in Education (SAGE) program for students in kindergarten and grade one. Its curriculum includes math, reading, language arts, science, social studies, and computer and physical education. John Muir Elementary School organizes a range of sports activities, including basketball, volleyball, soccer, wrestling and softball. The school also provides speech, occupational and speech therapy services.
