The State of Wisconsin Investment Board is a state agency that invests in one of the largest pension funds in the world. It directs a portion of its private debt investments to Wisconsin companies. The State of Wisconsin Investment Board is responsible for investing the assets of the Wisconsin Retirement System, State Life Insurance Fund, Local Government Property Insurance Fund, State Historical Society of Wisconsin Trust Fund, Injured Patients and Families Compensation Fund, Tuition Trust Fund and State Investment Fund. It administers retirement and other benefit programs for more than 500,000 participants of the Wisconsin Retirement System and over 1,400 employers. Its programs cover state and local government employees and retirees. The board is appointed for a term of six years. Its office is located in Madison, Wis.
