Had oil changed on our family vacation en route from sandy to southern Oregon. Oil change was 6/8/17 @ 5:00 pm. About an hour later the truck died on hwy 97 south@ high desert museum. The oil drain plug was missing.
@ 7:15 Had to have the vehicle towed to a local shop. Tow truck arrived around 8:45.
Had to get a ride home to sandy to get a different vehicle to continue vacation. Arrived at motel in Redmond @ 9:45 Family stayed in a motel while I got a ride from Redmond to sandy and then drove our other car back to Redmond Thursday night. I got back to hotel @ 4:30 am Friday morning.
We continued our vacation to southern Oregon skipping our stop at crater lake due to missing a night.
We missed two days of our vacation due to this incident and had to return to Redmond to get the vehicle and bring it home. Rather than our plan of going to wildlife safari and going home on i-5.
So far the shop hasn't been very enjoyable to work with. Repeatedly telling me that they "don't see how a drain plug would just come out"

Last I spoke with the halvoline they offered to pay my bill of 140.00 for refilling the oil and a new drain plug at the shop I towed it to. They aren't willing,so far, to pay to have 15 qts of oil cleaned off the outside and underneath of the truck, They won't own charges for the hotel we stayed in, or for having to get back to Sandy and pick up another vehicle or for making a special trip to redmond to pick up the vehicle. They haven't even offered to refund the original 92.00 that the oil change cost! And they told me "well AAA paid for the tow so there's no bill there" funny I pay for AAA.
I'm giving two stars because I'm hoping that they come to they're senses. I understand that things happen, and mistakes are made and I'm not mad about the incident. What I think is unacceptable is not taking ownership when a mistake is made and others are made to pay for it. I hope halvoline realizes this and makes things right.
