My family and I visited the Smokehouse as a result of seeing in the local newspaper that they had recently won an award. Upon visiting the restaurant, we were greeted with a smile and taken to our table. The atmosphere was very comfortable and the place was full of hungry customers. When we were served our salads at the beginning of our meals, I found mine to be mostly lettuce and had one piece of tomato along with a long HAIR. I immediately set it aside hoping to get a replacement. When I told the young lady [who appeared to be in high school] that my salad had a hair in it [obviously not mine, as I have short hair], she just looked at me and said, "Oh, I'm sorry" and walked away. I was very disappointed in that response. She didn't offer to replace it nor did she offer to remove it from our table. Otherwise, the food was pretty good, but I will probably not go back there just because of that. It was disgusting.

Are we talking about the same place? No, its not a 4 or 5 star restaurant, but there are very few 4 stars in the north country and no 5's that I know of. The smoke house in Madrid NY serves good food reasonably quickly. Their prime rib is good, my only complaint was their was too much food

They call this a "smokehouse"? I thought they used wood or some material that burn and cause smoke to smoke food but this place sure doesn't. Not the slightest smell of anything smoked anywhere near or inside the building! The beef is the sliced kind that you buy in a deli. Everything is cold when it gets to your table. At least, if it would be SMOKED. Ugh! Do yourself a favour and go eat at MacDonalds.
