Joseph M. Masessa, M.D. is a Diplomate of American Board of Dermatology as well as trained in MOHS Skin Cancer Surgery, Reconstructive Surgery, and General & Cosmetic Dermatology.
Dr. Joseph M. Masessa, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the University of Medicine and Dentistry New Jersey Medical School in Newark, received honors in Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Pediatrics, and Dermatology. He was the recipient of the Jacob Bleiberg Award for outstanding senior Dermatology student in 1987. He then served his rotating internship at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. His Dermatology residency was at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois until 1992.
Dr. Masessa is Board Certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Medical Society of New Jersey, American Society of MOHS Surgeons, and Dermatological Society of New Jersey.
Dermatology Private Practice
Since 1992, Dr. Masessa has been in private practice, now with 2 South Jersey offices in Toms River and Manahawkin. Dr. Masessa specializes in Dermatologic surgery, skin cancer, laser surgery and cosmetic dermatology. All procedures are performed in the office.
An author of several publications, Dr. Masessa has received the American Medical Association Physicians Recognition Award and the American Academy of Dermatology Physicians Recognition Award. Also, from 2005 through 2009, in conjunction with the Skin Cancer Foundation, Dr. Masessa has helped raise skin cancer awareness among NASCAR drivers and fans.
