In Business Since 1978 Mr. Ashok Kumar opened East-west as a Boutique in 1978. In 1981 the boutique expanded into a prom shop. Before we knew it, we were selling destination dresses. We then grew to include alterations, custom dyed shoes, jewelry and formal brides & bridesmaid dresses. In 1994 we moved to our permanent and present location at 991 Main Street in Manchester. We mostly cater to price points for the wedding gowns under $1000. We carry a range of up to $1500 retail. Bridesmaids' dresses are at an average price of $150. We are one of the largest prom houses during the prom season, carrying most leading prom designers.

Honestly, a friend brought me to this boutique because a few years back she bought a prom dress there and loved it. However I did not enjoy my time spent there. I was still looking for a wedding gown and was surprised when I walked in that a man was running the store. It didn't change my mind about trying dresses on but now I could have gone without. He only had 3 mermaid dresses I was remotely interested in trying, and only one was nice. Not only did he seem to care more about my bridesmaid being a precious client more than myself finding a dress, he rudely 'corrected' me that the cap sleeves on the dress are NOT sleeves they are straps. OH I'm sorry, I wasn't aware they call them "cap sleeves" for no reason. And I also was not allowed to take a photo of me in the dress I liked. Sorry but I find that rediculous considering I like to look at the pictures of the dresses ON me, because I can actually tell a difference in what looks better. In other words this is not a good place to go. Expecially if you want to feel important picking out your wedding dress. GO TO KLIENFELDS BRIDAL IN NY.

Awesome service and great price

I had best time picking out my dress! Autumn was so helpful. Ash was very generous with offering a discount. They helped make my upcoming wedding jitters all subside.

I was a little put off to see ...

I was a little put off to see a man running this store. I gave it a chance anyway. AM I EVER GLAD I DID! The man who owns the store, Ash, is kind, respectful, and didn't make me feel uncomfortable. He was honest about some changes I wanted to do, but the designer wouldn't do them. He offered alternatives, and I was able to have just what I wanted! The dress came in a little late, but that wasn't his fault~ I called the designer myself and they told me so.I didn't want to buy my bridesmaid dresses there until I had my wedding gown because I heard horror stories about bridal shops. I did order my bridesmaids, and aside from normal alterations, all went well. They came in a month early! My sister bought her daughter's dresses in GA, and she ordered white, when my dress is ivory! Oh Noooo! East West had my niece's flower girl dresses custom dyed to match my dress, saving my sister from having to buy new dresses. They saved my bacon! I would definitely buy from them again. This shop will go the extra mile to help you out.

RUN!!!!

I placed an order on Aug 26th 2009 for a dress & shawl for my cousin's wedding i was told that it would take 10-14 weeks so i paid $30 to have it in 6-8 wks in time for the wedding which is on 11/28/09 in VA. The dress did not arrive untill 11/12/09(approx 10 days late) once i arrived to try it on for alterations the seamtress told me the alterations would take 2 wks to complete unless i paid a rush fee YEAH right i paid a rush fee to order the dress and it was late why would i trust you to have my alterations ready in time. I tried the dress on recognized that it just needed a hem and took it with me. When i asked for my shawl they took out a bag with my name on it which contained a piece of fabric a note on the bag said that it still needed to be made (2 months to make an F&CKIN shawl) the owner said they make it when they alter the dress (NEGATIVE) so then to apease me they tried to pull a matching shawl out of their closet (WTF) supposedly the shawl will be ready sat 11/14/09. I took my dress to a dry cleaner in my city (Waterbury) Friday AM and they will have it done by Friday Night SAME DAY NO RUSH FEE. If only I read the other reviews before I went their my cousin in GA and my other cousin in CT had exceptional services at other retailers.
