Here is a little bit about those organizations that we are affiliated with. The Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit, voluntary organization of citizens working together to support the business development of Manhattan and make it a better place to work and live. Since incorporation in 1925, the Chamber and its many volunteers have invested their time and money to work together and accomplish objectives that are impossible to do alone. The American Physical Therapy Association ( APTA ) is a national professional organization representing more than 72, 000 members. Its goal is to foster advancements in physical therapy practice, research, and education. Kansas Physical Therapy Association The Kansas Physical Therapy Association ( KPTA ) is non-profit professional association representing physical therapists, physical therapist assistants who are licensed to practice in Kansas, and Kansas physical therapist students and physical therapist assistant students. KPTA's membership consists of approximately 1, 000 therapists and therapy students in Kansas. KPTA is a chapter of the American Physical Therapy Association ( APTA ), the national professional organization representing more than 75, 000 members. The National Strength and Conditioning Association ( NSCA ) is an international nonprofit educational association founded in 1978. Evolving from a membership of 76, the association now serves nearly 30, 000 members in 52 countries. Drawing upon its vast network of members, the NSCA develops and presents the most advanced information regarding strength training and conditioning practices, injury prevention, and research findings. Unlike any other organization, the NSCA brings together a diverse group of professionals from the sport science, athletic, allied health, and fitness industries. These individuals are all in pursuit of achieving a common goal the utilization of proper strength training and conditioning to improve athletic performance and fitness. The National Athletic Trainers' Association ( NATA ) is the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and others who support the athletic training profession. Founded in 1950, the NATA has grown to more than 30, 000 members worldwide today. The majority of certified athletic trainers choose to be members of the NATA to support their profession, and to receive a broad array of membership benefits. As the world's largest fitness educator, AFAA has certified more than 250, 000 fitness instructors from 73 countries around the world since 1983. Each year more than 2, 500 workshops are hosted by health clubs and studios across the nation. AFAA's written and practical certification examinations are accredited by Vital Research. AFAA is also proud to announce that it has been granted affiliate status with the National Board of Fitness Examiners ( NBFE ). Since its founding in 1881 by visionary leader Clara Barton, the American Red Cross has been the nation's premier emergency response organization. As part of a worldwide movement that offers neutral humanitarian care to the victims of war, the American Red Cross distinguishes itself by also aiding victims of devastating natural disasters. Over the years, the organization has expanded its services, always with the aim of preventing and relieving suffering. Today, in addition to domestic disaster relief, the American Red Cross offers compassionate services in five other areas: community services that help the needy; support and comfort for military members and their families; the collection, processing and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products; educational programs that promote health and safety; and international relief and development programs.
