I purchased a 10-week-old Australian Cattle Dog in late September and about two weeks after, we were at our wits end with the dog, and considered taking the three and a half hour drive back to the breeder. From not being able to walk around the house without having your pant legs pulled at, to sleepless nights (or nights spent on the floor with the pup), and not being able to sit on the couch without being bit, it was becoming too much to handle. Then we decided to go to Steve at A-1 Total Control Dog Training.



Years ago, I lived in a development with the most well trained dog I’ve ever encountered. Being only about 5-6 years old, I vaguely remember my neighbors, my house, and even my friends, but I will never forget this dog. While living here, my family got a Great Pyrenees puppy that enjoyed nothing more than slipping out the door and taking off around the development. Luckily, when the trained dog’s owner would see this, he would send his dog in a full sprint to circle around our puppy until we were able to get to her to bring her home. The dog was simply amazing, and was trained by Steve.



Now, in just our fifth week of training, our puppy is on track to rival this dog from my childhood. Though she is still young and has a long way to go, Steve gives the tools and instruction for everybody to be able to do so, and we are confident she will get to this level of obedience.



Do not waste your time or money elsewhere and take your dog of any age to Steve at A-1 Total Control Dog Training. It will be the best decision you will ever make for you and your dog.

When I read the rave reviews of A-1, I figured it was my last step before giving up totally on my dog that I fell in love with upon first meeting, a beautiful 6-month old American bull/lab puppy. What could be better than a crate trained and house broken cute little puppy? The first week Frankie was a fairly good girl. Then all hell broke loose and whatever restraints and good behavior Frankie had shown earlier had completely disappeared. She started to act like an alpha dog and became very aggressive and even violent at times. She was out of control – jumping on everything including kitchen counters, chasing my cats, snatching and chewing everything in sight, even paper and plastic bags, anything that was within her reach. Only my furniture was spared of her chewing (unfortunately not my glasses or anything else, including me). I had very noticeable bruises up and down both arms from her biting and once Frankie drew blood that was the end of the rope! I inquired with PetSmart and was told to be tolerant because she “was just a puppy” and they sold me some “bad tasting” spray which was totally ineffective. They also suggested that I coat my arms with honey or peanut butter so she would lick me instead of biting me (not a lie)! That wasn’t exactly PetSmart advice; more like PetDumb-are-you-kidding-me advice!



Enter A-1 and Steve Nixon, my doggie savior! It took only a FIRST VISIT to see an amazing and remarkable change with Frankie. Whatever magic Steve performed, Frankie ceased some of negative behaviors right away and I wouldn’t have believed it if I had not experienced it myself. No more biting, jumping on counters, etc., all positive changes! Steve is extremely knowledgeable and patient and knows exactly what to do and he is teaching me to train Frankie. It’s been 2 lessons later and Frankie’s behavior is getting better and better as we’re both learning new things on a daily basis. I now have this sweet pooch that I was drawn to in the first place. I come here all every time I have a new dog they are the best trainers in the City all I can say is positive things about them. They teach the dog great manners and they teach us the parents how to teach our dogs to obey.

I brought my dog here because for the life of me I couldn't train him to do anything or obey, so I called A-1 and they had my dog trained within a few weeks. I recommend this place to anyone who is having difficulties training there dog.
