My kids and I tent-camp at a different Michigan campground each summer and Hemlock Lake is (without a doubt) the most beautiful, well- manicured, and relaxing campground we've ever been to. The residents are encouraged to plant flowers and beautify the grounds, and the common spaces are kept pristine by the staff. The tent camping area is separated from the rest of the park so we experienced no running generators or air conditioners, and actually had the entire 3-4 acre area all to ourselves.

Th only reason I did not give 5 stars was that, for a family with young children, it was a bit too peaceful. Most residents of Hemlock Lake are there all season, year after year, and are primarily the retired crowd. While no one gave an indication they were displeased, I still felt guilty breaking the serenity of the park by letting my kids hoot and holler while splashing in the crystal clear, spring-fed lake.

Please give Hemlock Lake a try, and you'll be blown away by the beauty of the park, and friendliness of it's staff and campers. My rowdy heathens and I have yet to find it's equal.
