If I could give Mountain Crest Bloodhounds 10 stars, I would.

The short story ~ we have purchased two male red bloodhounds from Mountain Crest over the past decade. They have never had any health problems (other than the normal stuff - cuts and an ear infection from time to time). When I needed advice Judy has always been on-hand to give me remedies that I could quickly put in place to keep our boys healthy - without spending a fortune at the vet. I will NEVER buy a dog anywhere else.

The long story ~ My love of bloodhounds started 15+ years ago when a friend gave me my first bloodhound, after they had purchased it from a pet store and he got to big. The poor little guy had horrendous ear infections and eventually had to be put down from tumor and hip problems at age 5. Bloodhounds would never escape our family, though. Their nature, love, and intelligence (untrained even) is unlike any other animal out there. After extensive research, I found Mountain Crest. From the day I called to current day, I could not ask for better animals (health or demeanor) AND on top of that, I never feel alone b/c I know that Mountain Crest will always be there to help guide me on what is best for our dogs. They have NEVER, not once, steered us in the wrong direction when it came to animal care. (I even called about an illness my friend's husky was having - it worked to.) Our dogs are the sweetest, most strong willed, big and healthy bloodhounds I have encountered.

Mountain Crest commands a price for their dogs, and that turns some people off. You get what you pay for; and this is one case where I feel like I got even more than we deserve. I will never forget when Judy interviewed us for the first time to make sure the pups were a fit for the family...I was shocked and relieved at the same time. Thank you Mountain Crest for all you do for us and the pups!

Says "No Breeder Gimmicks" but in all reality, all that means is that they will sell a puppy to whomever presents them with the money first. No health testing, no understand of basic canine behavior, absolutely no reason to spend $1400/pup. For that kind of money, you can find a breeder that breeds for health AND temperament. Not even sure these people have heard of the OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals). Look elsewhere, it would be hard to do worse.
