Founded in 1892, The Amalgamated Transit Union is one of the largest labor organizations representing transit workers in the United States and Canada. Located in Martinez, Calif., it comprises over 190,000 members in 264 local unions spread across 44 states and nine provinces. The firm has various departments, including communications, education, finance, registry, legal, legislative, organizing and political, to name a few. The Amalgamated Transit Union is a member of the AFL-CIO and the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC).
