There are too many things to list. We lived out of state and trusted Doug Montgomery to manage our property. He rented it out to someone who had a record for possession, which we found out after WE evicted the renters. He overcharged for repairs that we didn't authorize and don't believe were needed, he would buy material and charge us without telling us, he let the renters get behind on rent to the point where they stopped paying then said that if we pushed them for the rent, we be setting the renters up for failure. This is a business, our house, and not a charity. The renters would have fires outside, which is against HOA, had drugs in the house, which we found out through Facebook, and when reported this to HOA and Hallmark, we were told everything was fine though we were getting complaints from the HOA president. This company would not evict the renters though we owned the house. It was as if they worked for the renters. He did not show up at the eviction, for which he was requested to come by the courts, and we started the eviction proceedings after we cut ties with this company. We were out thousands of dollars. When I talked with him on the phone, he was abrasive, condescending and don't believe that he looked out for our best interest. We paid for the eviction and had to come in from out of state. We reported this incident to the Board of Realtors, who basically said he did not egregious. I guess letting people stay rent free, tear up your property and break the HOA rules is stand operating procedure in WV. If you are out of town and cannot have eyes on your property, look elsewhere. We don't believe our interests were safeguarded.
