McMichael High School has been operational for more than 13 years and enrolls more than 1,000 students in grades 9 through 12. It was named after Dalton McMichael, a local industrial leader whose interest and support for public education was instrumental in the planning and construction of the school. The school s academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as English, reading, math, music, science and social studies. It has a student health center that offers a range of services, including diagnosis and treatment of minor injuries, monitoring of chronic diseases, mental health assessments, nutrition counseling, abuse and violence intervention, and dental and health screening. McMichael High School offers guidance counseling to students. It provides opportunities to participate in various athletic activities, such as football, wrestling, basketball, baseball, cross country, cheerleading, lacrosse, soccer, volleyball, golf and swimming. McMichael High School is administered by the Rockingham County School System
