The Maywood Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency that prevents crime, suppresses criminal activity, and apprehends and prosecutes law offenders. It supports Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.), which is an international education program that seeks to prevent the usage of illegal drugs, gang activities and violent behavior. The department has an auxiliary police that is responsible for training and equipment and is a member of the North Jersey Civil Defense Police Pistol League. In addition, it maintains a records bureau that manages and processes department reports and registration and identification documents. The Maywood Police Department has been operational for more than 110 years and is located in Maywood, N.J.
