Founded in 1932, McAllen Memorial Library maintains a collection of more than 100,000 books. The library features a meeting room for civic, educational and cultural public gatherings and is equipped with overhead projectors and wireless Internet access. It also has study, exhibit and conference rooms that can accommodate up to 120 individuals. McAllen Memorial Library has over 34 computers. The library also provides photocopying and faxing services. It is a part of McAllen Public Library, which additionally manages Lark Branch Library and Palm View Branch Library. The public library maintains a children center that offers assistance with English, history, social studies, math and science education.
