The BEST DENTAL OFFICE FOR KIDS IN DFW! I am a doctor and took my daughter to KiDS 1st after several moms recommended it to me. Dr. Dean and his staff are warm, patient, kind and always ensure my daughter has the best experience while there. Dr. Dean takes the time to explain everything to my husband and I and is always so gentle with our daughter. He shows us things to look for in our daughter's mouth so we too can be involved in keeping her teeth healthy. Our daughter loves going to the dentist. Dr. Dean also taught us how to make brushing fun and now that is a happy time at our house. We are grateful to have such a caring dentist and we will continue to recommend Kids 1st Dental to everyone we know!

I wish I could give no stars. Please BEWARE OF THIS DENTIST AT KID’S 1st Dental in McKinney TX, we took our son nearly 4 yrs. old in for exam and work when we thought he may have had a cavity as well as just needing a periodic exam, he at least diagnosed the cavity correct. After x-rays and exam this dentist proceeds to inform us that our son needed 6 crowns and likely replacement of his existing crown done less than a year prior, he showed us the x-rays and why he thought they needed to be crowned. They supposedly performed a teeth cleaning but all we could see was they brushed his teeth with his shiny new tooth brush he was just given (I mention this because he charged the insurance for a teeth cleaning when all he did was brush his teeth - no scraping or polishing). They then scheduled us for an appointment at the children’s hospital as well as an anesthesiologist for putting him under. After leaving the office we felt shock at why we didn't see all the problems, ever since his first crown we have been very attentive to his brushing and care. After some thinking we then decided to consult other dentists, we quickly found someone else and scheduled our appointment all the while expecting to hear the same thing. To our surprise the new dentist came in and said we see one cavity and THAT WAS ALL. Never mentioning the other dentist we asked them to show us the x-rays and then asked about the teeth specified for crowns by the other dentist. This new dentist actually educated us on what he needs to look for and what would be a concern for him whether he sees something visually or by the x-rays. She walked us thru all the teeth while re-examining our son with us right there with her. We decided right there that we had at least found our new dentist but as for this Kids1st dental in McKinney TX I have been at odds as to what to do, this was about 6 months ago and now I just can’t seem to let it go. I'm sure this is a common practice for this dentist, you see at the time we were on Children’s Medicaid because I was laid off of work at the time. I don't know if he would have tried the same thing if he knew we had other or no insurance but it doesn't really matter, the fact is he tried to put our son in danger with putting him under for the procedure and discomfort and most likely embarrassment and confidence issues for placing metal crowns right across his beautiful smile on his front top teeth. The flip side to this is that this dentist was recommended by our son's school, he went there advertising for business by giving out free tooth brushes and brochures. This school is the areas head start school where most families are on Medicaid and apply there because of low income or development needs of the child. If they print my review I hope I can stop someone from going thru the same thing we nearly put our son through. I will add that we brought this incident up to the school but was eventually disappointed by the angry reaction of some of the staff, I guess they don't want to believe we didn't like his wonderful dentistry services by letting him do the same thing he probably did to their children. I'm sorry for them, so PLEASE BEWARE!!!!
