Services/Products: Physical, emotional, and informational support throughout pregnancy, during labor, and early post partum. A birth doula provides encouragement, reassurance, suggestions and techniques for managing pain and fear during labor. Services include two home visits prior to birth to discuss plans for labor and birth, continuous labor support, and early breastfeeding guidance if needed. Studies have shown that the presence of a doula can result in shorter, more peaceful labors, reduce rates of cesarean births and medical interventions, reduce the mother's request for pain medication, and increase positive feelings about the birth experience. A doula does not offer medical advice or perform clinical tasks.
