We enjoy breakfast at West Main Family Restaurant, and occasionally lunch. It has a fairly classic diner atmosphere.



We recommend the sausage gravy and biscuits, as well as the baked fruit oatmeal.



We have always had great service. The prices are reasonable for breakfast.

I can't recommend this restaurant!



We recently ate breakfast at this restaurant. When I ordered, I only wanted one pancake, one egg, and a cup of coffee. I saw one egg and one pancake, on the children's menu, with two strips of bacon and a small drink, for $2.99. When I asked about getting that, I was told that was for children only, but I could order it. Nothing was said about it costing more. When I got my bill, I was charged $3.95 + $1.40 for coffee (total $5.35).



I tried to quietly ask why the difference, and the owner of the restaurant loudly said, the price on the adult menu was different, than on the children's menu. My question was, why charge almost twice as much for the exact same amount of the same food? Then, the owner started yelling it's on the menu that way and I didn't have to order it. I said, I had only seen the children's price, and didn't realize they would charge more for the exact same food, if you were over the age of 12. She kept yelling that it was on the menu that way, so I had to pay that amount. I tried to tell her it wasn't fair to her customers, to charge two different prices for the exact same food, but she wouldn't listen. Then she went over to another table, to get that customer to defend her. At that point, I said I won't be a part of that, and walked away.



True, she was yelling loud enough that everyone in the restaurant could hear her, but it was just WRONG for her to bring another customer into the discussion! After I walked out of the restaurant, when my husband was paying the check, she went up to him, and told him to never come back. He said, Fine, I don't plan to. She said, No, you don't understand, I mean don't EVER come back!



Oh my gosh! How in the world can the owner, of a restaurant, treat their customers like that, and expect to stay in business?



The moral of the story is . . . if you want mediocre food, and don't mind the owner yelling at you, if you question something on the menu, and/or don't mind being brought into a disagreement she is having with another diner, you COULD give this restaurant a try. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it!
