I went into Ross today with my mother, and usually I have no problem. The young lady in the fitting room was extremely pleasant while we tried clothes on, and the store was perfectly fine until we went to checkout. The woman at the counter (Mary) said the usual, "Next in line, I can help," which was perfectly fine, but we were clearly still looking at things near the counter. While picking up a bottle of water to purchase, she loudly restated with a passive aggressive undertone, "I'll take the next in LINE." It was very clear we were purchasing more, why not give us a moment? Once we were up at the register, she talked down to my mother repeatedly as if she was an idiot while my mother tried to make small talk, and we were pretty polite considering I also work at a retail store and my mother is a polite person. When I tried to add on the wallet I wanted to purchase into our items, she just gave me a nasty look until we had to say that we were buying that as well. (We had to state that twice)



Normally I give people in retail the benefit of the doubt since I also work retail, and maybe she was having a bad day, but she didn't have to be rude for every literal interaction we had with her.
