Snowden School is a part of Memphis City Schools, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools. Snowden School serves more than 1,500 students in kindergarten through grade eight. Snowden School is a pre-k through 8th grade optional school in the Memphis City Schools system. Located in midtown Memphis, it has a strong music dept. as well as a reputation for academic excellence. The student body is made up of those in the neighborhood as well as those from other parts of the city who choose to attend. The band and chorus often win competitions and are asked to play for civic groups. The CLUE program for accelerated students offers in town and out of town field trips to challenge students. High expectations for behavior as well as academics are communicated by a competent and caring administration. This is one of the best elementary/middle schools in the Memphis area. A waiting list for the optional program comfirms this.
