My experience at Gentle Jungle Inc was heartbreaking. Puppies were in the tiniest crates all alone. They all looked like they were extremely sick and depressed. The workers there were terrible they didn’t say hi they didn’t ask if I needed any help or anything. I’ve been to a lot of pet stores and this store is by far the worse. The worse part of my experience here was seeing one the male worker (blonde hair, on the bigger side) THROWING A PUPPY into a crate. Do NOT buy your animals here. This place needs to be shut down.

Extremely unsatisfied with services after the purchase. After spending $1500 on a puppy that would normally cost around $400 from a breeder, I'd expect some kind of support for problematic anmals. Behavioral problems to be exact. I've taken advice from trainers online and other dog owners, and my 8 month old miniature doxie just does not seem to have the ability to learn. He barely responds to his name. He seems to respond to any loud word spoken. I could say his name and he won't look, but if I yell book! or tractor! he will come running. He barks constantly while crated at night, even though we ignore him as multiple trainers and owners have suggested. He continues to pee in the house almost on a daily basis and periodically poops in the house right in front of us. My wife and I have stuck to the guidelines of training and have had minimal results.

I believe that if the pet store is going to charge so much money and the consumer pays it, if there are problems within a certain time span, there should be some kind of limited free training to at least show the store that they are either selling handicapped animals, or just to show that they appreciate their customers.

I don't need to say anything about the employees, as it seems the people below my comment have hit the nail on the head.

I wish I had read these reviews before we decided to purchase a single thing from them.

Was in the store yesterday just to see if snything had improved since I purchased an obvious puppy mill puppy that has had nothing but gastrointestinal problems Saw a beagle puppy with diarrhea and no one seeming to care. This place needs to be stopped from selling anything that's alive and breathing. They have no clue as to how to take care of animals. I wish the animal cruelty charge brought against the owner hadn't mysteriously disappeared from the Internet.

I worked there last year, and the amount of disregard for the small animals was disgusting. I had to scrape dried blood off of the birds tanks because they would beat themselves against the glass to try and get out. The male and female hamsters are together causing crazy breeding and male aggression resulting in gaping wounds on several of them. Also most of the female hamsters are pregnant. They have no heating for their reptiles and constantly give out false information to customers, such as "ferrets dont need veterinary care" and "bearded dragons dont need a heat lamp at this age". They also illegally were selling hedgehogs that were MORBIDLY obese. They eventually got caught and had to stop, and they put a tiny hamster wheel in the tank with them. It was ridiculous. There were several iguanas that I found dead in the tank. The filters they used were way to strong for the fish and I would find 12-20 just floating dead at the surface every two hours or so. I hate that store with a passion. They only care about the dogs because they bring in the most profit.

They don't care about animals!

Not only do I agree with all other reviews, but I believe this owner has been charged with animal cruelty before. WTNH had the story you can search but when I clicked it, said couldn't be found.
This place absolutely disgusts me! They obviously do not love animals or they would have policies in place to protect their animals. Such as the rabbits. Not only does this place allow children to get into the room where the rabbits are running around and could be injured, Ty hey do not restrict the sale of rabbits during the Easter holiday. This is a very simple thing that they can do, make it very difficult to buy rabbits during Easter and educate those getting rabbits of the expenses and care needs of their new companion. They are not toys! Rabbits require vet visits, live from 10-15 years, require proper diet and housing and can damage your home if not given the proper toys to occupy them and keep their teeth and nails short. They can develop medical emergencies very quickly that can escalate into life threatening situations. While they can be great companions this company obviously does not ensure the safety of their animals. The workers obviously are not educated to no fault of their own. This company needs to make some serious policy changes!

Please closed down

I read an article on how to get pet stores closed down, and it seems like we only need about five or six people to protest, larger numbers always help. The site also mentioned that determined people have gotten many pet store shut down. Anyone interested in doing this for the gentle jungle in Meriden. It's disgusting there, puppies covered in feces, sick puppies, puppies bought from puppy mills, anything you can imagine. Sabrinabb122@yahoo . Com
Email me if interested, and we can get this thing going.

Disgusting and unsettling. The cages for all the animals (especially birds) were extremely small with a large amount of them in each. The service was awful/rude and were entirely apathetic towards the animals. All the animals, except fish, birds, and dogs (though everything was unlocked, so technically I could easily open/slide out their cages), were accessible to anyone, just open up the cage and touch them. Small children and others who seemed like they didn't care at all were handling them roughly and disrupting whatever they were doing. The animals had to wait just to eat to make sure no one was there - just basic necessities. They were completely overwhelmed and exhausted and I can't stand seeing it. This place needs to be shut down.

Love this pet shop have been getting my pets from this place for years. I got two dogs and hamsters from there and their are very healthy and very friendly. The manager help me a lot with advise on how to take care of my first puppy when I got her. She was so tiny I had no idea how to take care of her.

Purchased our 1st GSD - Black/Tan German Shepard 12/23/14, male. Beautiful pup. 10 weeks old. Immediately enrolled training 12wks. By 4 months dog was agressive & dominant. Tried contacting breeder, no return call. By 7 months already bitten 2 people, labeled aggressive - warden suggests putting him down. Training, behaviorist trainer & dog still bites anyone but his own pack. Experts thinking inbreeding or something wrong w brain (due to poor breeding lines) Don't waste your $$...go to a REAL local breeder & do your research.

I just purchased an Italian Greyhound at this pet store and couldn't be happier. I made numerous visits to the store, it was always very clean with the animals well looked after, the employees were very knowledgeable and pleasant. Darcy was a wealth of information about tips for caring for my new dog. I named my IG "Sonny", he is very healthy according to my Vet, and has a great temperament. I followed Darcy's instructions on training and there has not been one accident so far. I would definitely recommend this pet store. I have posted a photo of this beautiful dog so you could see for yourself how well cared for he was. Thank you Darcy for all of your help

I was not happy with this place at all. The puppy i purchased has been diagnosed with kennel cough. When i called to tell them this information she acted like it was no big deal. When i was playing with the puppy in the little area and i gave her to the employee to put her back in the cage he didn't say a word. Didn't ask me if i was interested in her or if i had any questions about her. I'm just glad i got my dog out of there!

Ok so when I visited this esta...

Ok so when I visited this establishment for some basic fish flakes I had to check out the few tanks it does keep. 60% of the fish were dead in the tanks !! When I brought it to the attention of the 4 employees (all gathered at front desk talking and laughing) they said what do you mean they are dead? as they laughed ! My thoughts is they should be shut down period !! The kids who appearently is the fish expert said "ok ill just add some stress coat in the tanks " hhahahahaha THEY ARE DEAD !!! so unless you can revive the dead i would save the chemicals.....WOW

EWWWW....

The people who work at this scumy place are jerks! They are very rude and do not help they're customers.... They put you in a room with the puppy and just walk away. No questions answered, nothing! The manager there Darcy is very unprofessional, playing around with all the employees while on the job. She was more concerned about her employees facebook then me interested in their puppies. I will never go back there! Not only that but the kennel was a mess, very dirty! Poop every where on the walls and even on the poor puppies! They smelled so bad I felt horrible leaving those puppies there as I walked out the door furiously... And while I was there, there was a woman there getting a refund from the mananger for a vet bill because the puppy she had purchased was sick! Those poor things!! I don't recommend anyone going there!
