Provided by YP.comI love Dr. Vanko. After trying to get pregnant for 5 years on my own I went through fertility treatments with her. She never gave up and we eventually conceived. I delivered a beautiful healthy boy! 3 years later I got pregnant again and due to my health issues my 2ND son was born premature. Dr. Vanko was amazing! She did everything she could to help my son be as healthy as possible under the circumstances. My second son is now 10 years old and has a mild case of Cerebral Palsy. I feel things could have been so much worse if Dr Vanko hadn't been there. I've been seeing Dr. Vanko for almost 20 years and I am so thankful to have her as my Dr.

Provided by YPmobileWhen she delivered my baby she was so rough that she tore the lining of my uterus. I was bleeding internally so bad she had to work on stopping bleeding for almost an hour after I gave birth. I choose to have a natural birth so I felt everything. No medication! Not knowing I was going to be tortured after I gave birth. She also torn me vaginally so bad I had several stitches and was in severe pain. So image this all happening and feeling the whole thing. No pain Meds nothing

Provided by YP.comDr. Mary Vanko is the best doctor and saved the lives of my last two births. I was a high risk pregnancy with gestational diabetes; older birth mother in my 40's. Mary Vanko called for two c sections emergency. The first was a 37 wk. birth when my son was in distress. I was closely monitored and gave birth in St. Margaret Dyer hospital. Wonderful experience even being emergency. and the second one year later almost were twin girls; one being Down Syndrome which I opted out for testing even under suggestion. I did not want to miscarry doing unnessessary tests. I was closely monitored by Vanko and Dr. Grundy (ultrasounds) and during a 33 week visit Dr. rushed me to hospital and knew I was too large and too risky to carry. The bag was thin and could have ruptured if she hadn't called it right. She delivered at Methodist (hated hospital and Pediatric dr.) but loved Vanko. Once again saving me and the twins. My scars from C section are very minimal and was taken care of wonderfully by her. She knows her stuff! She is the reason I now have 3 healthy children at the age of 11 (twins) and 12 (boy) at the age of 54!. She is the best dr. and I always recommend her to anyone especially high risk. Wouldn't have any of these quack drs or quack midwifes touch me ever ..only Vanko! My last gyno before Vanko told me I couldn't have any children before I went to Vanko for routine visit. I had children late in life (a blessing for my 2nd marriage to a wonderful man that deserved a chance to be a father). Vanko made this happen for us. No fertility, no drugs just A1 care. Wish all my doctors could have been this good. Years later having a terrible dr. do a hernia operation made terrible vertical long scar on my abdomen after Vanko's incisions were almost invisible. I also had a longer recovery period after the shabby hernia operation and it didn't even do any good. That just proves there's good Drs. and real bad ones out there. (by the way the hernia was done at Mt. Siani a 6 hour wait for outpatient surgery and there was minimal after care with it..never go to Siani hospital..you'll die!

Provided by YP.comI wasn't happy at all...Dr. Vanko is extremely technical, even after I told her I wasn't interested in the procedure, she continued discussing. She is very cynical- she mentioned hospital politics, said I needed to get a certain test done (when I told her I didn't need it, she proceeded to bring up a scandal about a Hammond minister- insinuating that my husband can't be trusted) she also had poor things to say about previous OB when she didn't even know that it was a female! I won't go back. I felt like she didn't listen and that since she was the Dr., it was her way or the highway and after 2 miscarriages, I want someone a bit more sensitive.

Provided by YP.comDO NOT GO!!! The first thing Dr. Vanco said to me when she came in the room was, "So, you're --- years old and don't plan on having any kids?" Well that's a crappy "how do you do". Then she told me about freezing my eggs & how it would be about $10,000 blah blah. I wasn't there for that. I was there for my annual checkup! I want kids however I haven't met the person I want to marry yet! Then she goes in the hall & is talking out loud about other patients and their issues & the waiting room is right there for everyone to hear and my door is still wide open as well. Her desk is in the hall & it was a mess...papers everywhere. Then I go into another room & her & the nurses are looking for what they need for the procedure & they couldn't find anything. Then they open the cabinet doors & it was a mess in there....stuff everywhere. So they leave the room & come back & don't knock!! Well, being that the room I was in was right across from the nurses station & where people walk in the front door and I'm standing there in a t-shirt getting ready for a pap!! Then my legs are up in the stirrups & they're still running around looking for stuff. So after the pap the dr. leaves & says she'll be back for the rest of the annual examination. That was at 11:40 & I was in there till 12:20 & no one came for me or said a word to me. I got dressed & walked out. As I was leaving the nurse said, "oh, you have to leave huh?" Heck, I was there for over 2 hours!! The dr. was on the phone behind the reception area & the nurses were just standing there. I will never go back there ever! That place is extremely unprofessional & a mess. It's like a circus act in there. I take that back because a monkey probably would have checked on me while I was waiting forever. No wonder I was able to get an appointment in two days....no one wants to go there.

Provided by YP.comI loved Mary F Vanko... as well did my husband. Being high risk, Dr. Vanko and her staff kept my husband and I very informed and was beyound professional. Dr. Vanko is no longer part of my network, otherwise I would still see her today. I hold her in very high regards as she was the most, professional, knoweledgable, informative patient and caring doctor I have ever seen in my entire life ( and I have seen many doctors). She ran through every test that she performed with me and explained everything in great detail. Whatever my concern was she made it her concern and walked us through our pregnancy from start to finish. I LOVED seeing her and couldn't wait to see her and her staff. Everyone down to the administrative staff were awesome! I highly encourage you to see her...
