Founded in 1977 as a ministry of First Baptist Church Merritt Island, Merritt Island Christian School promotes academic, spiritual, physical and social development of students in prekindergrten through grade 12. Its academic curriculum includes several subjects, such as writing, reading, science, mathematics, history and Bible study. The school also offers enrichment classes in music, Spanish, art, physical education, computers and library skills. Merritt Island Christian School also offers private piano lessons, as well as provides opportunities to participate in a student council, the Junior National Honor Society, and drama, book, photography and science clubs. It offers various athletic activities, such as swimming, football, golf, soccer, volleyball, basketball, tennis, track and cheerleading. The school is located in Merritt Island, Fla., and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Association of Christian Schools International.
