A local institution for more than 55 years, Deanie's Seafood in Bucktown is the original location of one of New Orleans’ favorite seafood enterprises. Deanie’s is recognized among the best seafood restaurants in New Orleans noted for its Giant Seafood Platter, boiled seafood—including crawfish, shrimp and blue crab—New Orleans barbeque shrimp, Louisiana oysters, seafood gumbo, and more. Deanie's is one of a handful of restaurants with its own seafood market adjacent to the restaurant, the first seafood market in this quaint fishing village on the shores of Lake Pontchartrain and one of the first to sell boiled seafood in New Orleans. One of the most enduring names of New Orleans-style seafood, Deanie’s is a “scratch-house” known for fresh Louisiana seafood prepared using authentic housemade recipes and Deanie’s signature Creole seasonings. Located in Jefferson Parish, the restaurant hosts the Pinch A Palooza Crawfish Eating Contest & Festival each spring.A local institution for more than 55 years, Deanie's Seafood in Bucktown is the original location of one of New Orleans’ favorite seafood enterprises. my first instinct was to write this review while I was still in the restaurant, sick to my stomach. but I waited until today to calm down and think a bit. But, after being sick all night...here goes. This is not the Deanie's from days gone by, or even the Deanie's from a year or two ago. The food was bland, overcooked, and no taste whatsoever. The biggest disappointment was the onion rings, they used to come out in MOUND, to be observed while the waitress carried the platter through the dining room. Now, it was 6 pitiful rings on a decorative skillet. The grease used to fry the catfish, shrimp ect was so old and overused, all you tasted was GREASE, and continued to taste it well after you left. The worst part was the "crawfish po'boy"...this was the nastiest thing I've ever tasted. The crawfish were from the freezer and tasted rotten...after you chewed them for a while a stale fish taste came over your mouth and caused you to gag. We did send that back and it was taken off the bill, but still...for a restaurant to serve that in the first place was unacceptable. The BBQ shrimp, overcooked and placed in a dish of hot worcestershire sauce...pitiful. I am highly disappointed in Deanie's, this used to be THE GO-TO place for seafood...now, it's the place you go to if you're suffering severe constipation and want to pay $200 for relief. Never again, there are way too many other seafood places that won't get you sick.

Great! as always the most food you can get for the money. By the way, I think the seasoning is perfect.

Re-heated crawfish

The lady said the crawfish were fresh boiled, when in reality they were reheated and overcooked.

Zero Taste

We recently had dinner at Deannie's.None of the enormous amount of fried seafood we received had a bit of flavor. No salt, pepper, or even lemon. NO TASTE. our bill was well over 300.00 PLUS Tip. Our waitress was nonchalant to every request and question. For the record, everyone does not like coleslaw. Salad should be an option. Everyone carried their food home to "dr up" with ketchup, hot sauce etc. We were so dissapointed. Please do better. Although I can say our party of 18 will not be returning.

Disappointed

Ate at deanies resturant when I was in town paid with cash and waitress charged my ticket to the credit card of one of the other people at the table. Charge showed up immediately on the mobile banking called the manager held the money until Thursday which caused overdrafts for that individual. Manager said it was a mistake how do you mistakenly charge $ 104. 00 when you have the cash in your hands. I think it was on purpose. I am totally disappointed and won't eat there again.

When I lived in Metairie 10 years ago, Deanie's was the best seafood in the area. Am really looking forward to returning, soon.

Owner fighting with customer

It was disturbing to see how Chandra (owner) handled a customer today at lunch time. It was unprofessional and inconsiderate to other patrons who were trying to enjoy thier meal. She argued word for word with the woman and continued the argument through- out the resturant to the entrance area. I am very dissapointed and displeased.
