If I could give this Market Ba...

If I could give this Market Basket (and a few others) zero stars, I would.

However, Market Basket on Haverhill Street is particular incapable. I have had 2 instances of incorrect change, and it seems even when I do not have a problem, associates still have an attitude.

First, I used to work there a few years ago, when I was 14. Now, I was young and it was my first job, but I have always been a mature person. So, I conducted my job for about 6 months error free. Then one day a manager pulls me aside and says that my draw is over ten dollars short. I was shocked because that is a lot of money to just be missing. (Shortages are common, but they are usually cents, two dollars the most).

I really was confounded, but I chalked it up to carelessness and tried to convince myself that I made a mistake. However, I made sure to be extra careful in the future. So a few days go by, and I am pulled aside by a manager again and he says I was over a hundred dollars short!!!! I was so infuriated! He says that if I have a shortage again I will be fired. I told him he needed to investigate the people who worked in the customer service booth, whom did all the counting for cashier draws.

Of course no-one ever considered that, and a week went by, I ended up feeling really uncomfortable, so I confronted the booth girls and of course they all said that I was wrong. But how could I be short after so many months of doing an excellent job, and then the shortages are days apart, and in amounts that are exactly even?

In the end I quit that job and found a new job at Haffner's Service Stations in another city, where I worked for 4 years, and never was short more than $3 dollars. As for Market Basket, I would go there if it was the last grocery store in the world (I'd rather start growing my own food).

I am friends with a select few who still work there, and they say its basically the same women who work the Customer Service Booth, so watch out. *****(Apparently, they already got to the money of: "Un-Happy")*****

Dont leave the counter without counting your cash!

At the customer service desk we exchanged 2 winning lotto tickets totaling $65.00 and exchanged a $3.00 lotto ticket for another $3.00 worth of Mass Cash. The customer service representative hands us the ticket and $45.00 and we stepped away maybe three steps then returned to state she gave us the wrong amount. The lady was immediately on the defense with my wife and refused to provide us our money. They stated we should not have walked away like it was our fault that she cannot count. Management was also no help at all. They told us to call the next day and speak to the Active manager who counts the cash and if they were over $20.00 then they would give it to us. They called me to report that there was no extra $20.00 found so we basically lost our money.

WOW – This means that IF they counted correctly that they have a thief working behind the counter at Market Basket Store number 18 in Methuen. I wonder how many other people that this store ripped off. Moral of the story is do not leave the counter unless you counted your cash. I am working on advising the Lottery Commissioner about this place as well. I am certain they would like to know about this issue.
