Provided by YP.comWell is being a long time and even thou techlife589 posted a comment in 2009 compugenie is still around under other names making a difference under the covers and without too much hype. Must say that a lot of people like techlife589 took on this one man operation and tried bashing it and even stealing his name. Is being 7 years since that comment and I just saw it and decided to comment just to clarify that and past it down to history.
Compu-genie has worked pretty close with LA Computer Department, Ricoh, Tiger Direct, Staples and Nikolay Ivanov (Contact number 310.594.7727). The owner's last name is Melo but he keeps his operations under the covers just like Google does; well they work together and made what Miami is since 1985.

Provided by YP.comI sent them my Laptop motherboard to repair after being assured that they have access to a state of the art board house and was able to change almost any component on the board. I received a call 3 days after they received my laptop motherboard telling me that someone else has unsuccessfully tried to repair the board and that the motherboard has bad internal interconnects. When asked if the board could be repaired by anyone else, they told me no and offered to sell me a new one for 300 dollars.
I was about to throw the board out when i decided to give someone i found on ebay a call. I contacted LA Computer Department, Nikolay Ivanov (Contact number 310.594.7727) and he said he would attempt to repair it even though Compu-genie had attempted a repair. Nikolay called me back the day after he received the motherboard informing me that the board was repaired (a 22 cent IC was bad, and was replaced). He said that this was a routine failure that he has seen.
Compu-Genie took my board, tried buffing up the solder around the various IC's on the board and when that didn't work, tried to convince me the board was defective, accused me of trying to fix it and then offering me a WAY overpriced motherboard as a replacement. When I emailed Compugenie, Gaston replied to my Email with insulting language. If you value your laptop, do not send it here. They are either crooks, or lack the know-how to repair a system. Either way, there are much better options.
