Dr. Brandon Mahal is a physician-scientist at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (MSOM)-Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center (SCCC). Dr. Mahal treats prostate and genitourinary cancers. Dr. Mahal obtained his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) with Honors at Harvard Medical School, completed an internal medicine internship at Harvard Medical School's Brigham and Women's Hospital, and completed residency in radiation oncology at the Harvard Radiation Oncology Program. Dr. Mahal is an internationally recognized expert in prostate cancer and health equity, with over 150 co-authored manuscripts including several publications in top medical journals such as NEJM, JAMA, and JAMA Oncology.  Dr. Mahal has served on several expert committees and panels, including The White House's Health Equity Leader Roundtable, The Lancet Commission on Prostate Cancer, The American Society for Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Guideline Panel on Genomics for Prostate Cancer, ASCO-Friends Cancer Research Group, American Cancer Society (ACS) National Advisory Team on Prostate Cancer Disparities, and Prostate Cancer Foundation Disparities Working Group. Dr. Mahal also leads a research lab that focuses on prostate cancer, translational epidemiology, genomics, and scientific outreach/engagement in the context of addressing cancer disparities.
