During my tenure at FIU's Student Counseling Center from 1980-1990, I developed an interest in working with students who were experiencing academic, emotional and lifetyle adjustments. Upon my transition to the M-DCPS from 1990-2012; I gained additional experience with issues related to the Special Education population. I worked with families experiencing challenges presented by students with educational, physical and emotional limitations. During these years I was was also involved in part time private practice and continued to provide part time professional services as an adjunct professor for Miami Dade College for adolescent and children referred for court mandated divorce sessions. Throughout my career I have enjoyed providing workshops and seminars on topics of interest,{ i.e., Teen dating violence/rape victims, ADD/ADHD, Special Education and the Emotionally/Behaviorally Disabled Students: Concerns for Child and Family, Early Assessment/Intervention as a Key Factor, etc.} for faculty, parents and students of M-DCPS and for professionals attending Linking Forces. I was affiliated to the FIU faculty from 2000-2012 providing clinical supervision to graduate students in the Mental Health/School Counseling programs. In 2006, I received National Board Certification for School Counselors and since then I have remained an active member for this organization.
