Miami Lakes K-8 Center, formerly known as Miami Lakes Elementary School, serves more than 1,500 students in kindergarten through grade eight. Established in 1969, the school administers a variety of programs to enhance student achievement and to meet their needs. Its curriculum includes science, math, social studies and language arts. Miami Lakes K-8 Center offers a range of extracurricular activities, including chess, literature, art appreciation, journalism and science clubs. The school also provides membership opportunities to students in the Future Educators of America and the National Junior Honor Society. In addition, it operates a parent-teacher organization that volunteers during field trips. Miami Lakes K-8 Center is governed by Miami-Dade County Public Schools.
