I'd never in a million years recommend this business to anyone: family, friend, not even an enemy.

My mother passed away at home last month. My sister and I called Applebee-McPhillips since they were recommended by hospice. I couldn't believe my ears! The woman who answered the phone sounded so rushed, overwhelmed, and inconvenienced. It felt like we were calling to have old furniture picked up instead of our deceased mother's body! The woman who answered the phone was curt COLD and not warm or accommodating whatsoever.

We tried to establish a time to have my mother picked up and when we asked if our family could have extra time (our sister was on her way over to say her goodbyes to Mom) ....the woman HUFFS and tells us to hold on as if we're throwing a wrench in her plans. When my sister questioned what the issue was and explained that the woman was being rude and to have some compassion because our mother just passed away an hour ago.... the woman's reply is "IT'S JUST THAT WE'VE HAD 3 OTHER DEATHS THIS EVENING SO TRYING TO DO PICK UPS...."

...okay and? Do you think any of us coordinated these deaths? We're not talking about pizza deliveries, lady. We are talking about loved and cherished family members who we want to honor and literally just lost. We are calling you on possibly the worst day of our lives. If you don't have it in you to treat EVERY customer as if they are your only customer and if you do not want to honor their deceased loved one, then you are in the WRONG BUSINESS.

In the end, we hung up the phone and made other arrangements with another funeral home who did everything the PROPER way and made us feel respected and at ease.

Ironically, my sister holds a high position at a local hospital and prior to this experience, she would recommend Applebee-McPhillips to patients and families. *N E V E R* AGAIN. I actually refer to them as "Applebees-McDonalds" now. Something tells me we would've gotten better customer service from either of those chains.

Despicable...

The day after my brother past, there was a conflict with the time of service between the cemetery and the funeral, and when I spoke to the funeral Director and she became very irate and was despicable rude. I could not believe what I was hearing. There was no sense of compassion, empathy, or understanding. To make a long story short, they were late and her associate began to pray the our father but didn't even know the words. And then they played games with his death certificate. This was a beyond humiliating experience and I hopethat no one else has to go through. I give them one star for not dropping the coffin.

Please do yourself a favor and do not add aditional stress to your already stressful situation when losing a loved one. They are not sympathetic. They are unclear with the information they give you. They say one thing, then change the story. AVOID this funeral home if you prefer a professional and caring funeral home-which this place is not.

This place was very good. They are a family owned business and made us feel very comfortable. We were not rushed and everyone seemed to be genuinely concerned about our wants. There were a couple of minor problems but nothing major. Everything we considered important was handled professionally and effeciently. I would highly recommend this funeral home to care for your loved ones

Absolutely AWFUL!! They make ...

Absolutely AWFUL!! They make you feel rushed, they try to control what you do. The funeral director, Mary, actually lets everyone know that she's in charge to the point that she really is running the show and makes everyone feel uncomfortable. I would not use this place to even bury a roach. What ever money you save you will regret when you realize that you didn't really get what you want -- your "designed" send off but instead Mary's rush service. RUN!!!

Over rated Unhappy services

My Dad recently died. We visited Middletown Funeral Homes to find the best price. Well you get what you pay for. They were very accomodating with under pricing every other funeral home; Dad looked really bad in his coffin. We felt rushed out at 9 PM at the end of his viewing. We had our family minister do Dad's service as he asked us to. at the end of the service Mary did a second service that we really didn't want. She read some poetry , but if you knew Dad, he would have gotten up and walked out.

Then they tried to push a headstone on us, that was overpriced after checking with other dealers.

I would not recomend them to any one.
