The Wayside Inn & Larrick's Tavern is nestled in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Middletown, Virginia. Since 1797, the Inn has offered visitors accommodations, dining, and entertainment throughout its long history. We also welcome day visitors to come by for a tour! The Wayside Inn is the oldest continuously running Inn in the United States. The oldest part, the "Old Kitchen" was built as a waystation and stagecoach stop in 1740'ss along with the original well (viewable in the Tavern) that watered the small hamlet of Middletown. With great pride as the keepers of this local heritage site, the Inn has retained much of its historic charm, with each of the 22 guest rooms and event spaces decorated in 19th Century style.  The Larrick's Tavern, offers a variety of casual-upscale menu items for your dining pleasure. A few of our most popular items include Maryland Crab Cake Sandwich, Waysides’ Classic Version of Short Rib Dinner, our Traditional 18th Century Wayside Peanut Soup, Wayside Prime Rib (only available, Fri, Sat), and desserts. Our Tavern serves a selection of craft beers, wines, and spirits and also offers breakfast on Saturdays and Sundays. Whether you've joined us for fifty years or are planning your first visit, we look forward to welcoming you and your loved ones as our guests!
