It was always sort of an.. Awkward, non professional visit. Dr. Shlafer never took the time to evaluate my daughter. He walked in, I told him what's wrong, and without checking anything he'd say "oh, she needs this" and walks out, jokingly. Even he regular check ups he was in and out of the room in half a second. My daughters health is not a joking manner. He relied on his nurses for everything, and let me add they were not the brightest crayons in the box. I once asked a question and a nurse googled it in front of me. They also almost always have a very bad attitude. In one particular instance, I took my daughter to him because she was having pain urinating. I informed him I would be there before 5, as I was. They needed my daughter to urinate into a cup for the labs, but as I mentioned she was in pain and it was taking her awhile to go. They stop taking patients/close at 5, and we were still in the restroom trying to potty. We return to the room to give her water to try to help, but then a nurse walks in and says "it's 10 past 5 and we all want to go home, so here's a cup you can do it yourself and return it to a lab." So, my screaming, crying 2 year old daughter who is in pain is not your priority as a DOCTOR?! I could hear the nurses and Dr. Shlafer himself talking bad and laughing in the hall. I said I would not leave until we have answers, and then I hear Dr. Shlafer laugh and say "what's done is done" then I heard him leave. I was shocked beyond belief. Not only was this malpractice, but disrespectful and hurtful. To put my trust into another's hands to care for my daughter, and have that as the outcome? Just repulsive. I truly recommend finding your care somewhere else, if you want genuine care. The people here won't actually care for your children, it's just money in their pockets. Don't waste your time.

We have been long time patients of Dr. Shlafer for over 16 years, have a new found appreciation for him every time we talk with family friends about their experiences. With four kids, we have seen our share of medical issues and emergencies. Dr. Shlafer is humble, yet confident, and he is always laser focused on the best interest of his patient. He won't always tell you what you want to hear, but instead he will provide you with a balanced, researched, and heart felt medical opinion. He will be your best advocate in your biggest times of need.



He has amassed a wealth of knowledge and first hand experiences throughout his career, yet he is always willing to admit if something is outside of his scope. Dr. Shlafer maintains a strong network of the best doctors in the Northwest, and will never leave a patient hanging when in need. If he can't help, he will get you to the front of the line with someone who can.



Personally, we look to Dr. Shlafer as a friend and an extension of our family. Our children look forward to visiting Dr. Shlafer, and love his great sense of humor. After over 16 years we still hear new jokes every time we visit, and no one can get a smile out of a sick kid like he can.
