Dave the owner is one of the best educated and most reliable contractors I ever worked with. We hired him in 2009 to relandscape our home and he has been working for us since. Despite speaking with a slight stutter, he was the one who most deeply communicated with us on what our goals were and best explained what he was going to do and why. I don't think anyone procided us with more information before they even started our job.

He's been in his trade for over 20 years and it shows. In fact he writes articles for many gardening magazines because he's so knowledgable. We wanted to build a stone wall to frame our property and install a new walkway and landscape our front yard. He gave us an in depth estimate, line itemed and walked us through everything he was doing, with a daily update as they did our project. His crew is made up of really hardworking guys, and we've seen the same faces for the past three years as they've maintained their original work. I wouldn't say he's the cheapest guy, but he gives you more than you pay for. His imagination as to what he chose to plant was amazing. Our neighbors liked the work so much that he got three more jobs on our block!

I actually get a real kick out of watching him work with his crew. I could see his gears grinding as he installed each plant alongside his guys and we get remarks all the time about how our flowers are the nicest people have ever seen. He really cares about the results he gets for you. Even when his men were building the stone walls, it was obvious they took as much pride in their work as dave does. All done by hand, the old fashioned way. And boy are they soild. They are like guys out of another time.

That said, It's not always easy to get on his chedule because he's always so busy. But if you can get him to make time to come to your place, there's no question I'd recommend him for any sort of landscaping work.

Mr. Freeman, (came highly recommended to me by Metropolitan Plant Exchange), returned my call within minutes of my initial contact, emailed me an appointment time and showed up on time to the minute. After not being able to receive a call from many other contractors, let alone get an appointment, he explained to me that since he does not mow lawns himself, but has a separate wing of his business to do that, he can give 100% of his time and attention to my landscaping needs without interruptions to keep lawn cutting clients happy. He was willing to answer all my questions with what appeared to be a wonderful grasp of landscape design, appropriate plants to use on the different shady and well lit portions of my property and even included a soil test in his estimate, something the other two people I had come never even mentioned doing. (And when I asked one if he could do it too, he said he did not know how).

Seeming like a well educated and kind person, he spent all the time we asked of him and sent us a well defined estimate instead of a hastily scribbled list of jobs and a price. He explained exactly what he wanted to do and why, and even offered two different options in some areas as I'd asked him to do. He came on the day and time he said he would, and althoughhe finished one day late, (due to all the rain we'd had), he kept to his estimate and we are quite pleased with his services. One of the lights he'd installed by the walkway did not light up well a week after he left and he came within 2 days after I callerd him to replace it with a brand new one.

We watched his crew remove almost every single rock from our soil and adding many products to the soil before laying our new sod and built us a truly lovely rock garden and set us up with a reasonable plan to keep it looking nice for years. He was here, on-site, with his crew for the majority of the job and planted every tree himself when it came time to fill in the holes, adding even more products to the soil. I even watched himturn each plnt just so, so that every plant was showing its best face to the front of my yard. His attention to detail was just fantastic. (My neighbor kept coming up to ask him gardening questions throughout the job, and Dave was more patient with this behavior than I was, but thats ok.)

My wife wants to send him to our daughters house because she said, "we've found a real gem of a person, and I want to share him with the family" I was a little surprised when I saw all the good things said about him on his website and was not prepared to meet such a reasonable and intelligent person. But its obvious that he loves what he does and I have to say, he made a believer out of me too. I can see I'm the first review he has up here so far, but I bet he's going to have more excellent reviews in the future, even if they all come from my own family. Anyway, I have no trouble telling anyone that this is the man to call if you want a person who will do his best to give you the property you want at the price range he says he can do it within too. I hope to do another project with him next year and will update this as he comes to care for our garden and lawn as time goes by.
