Provided by YP.comI started my website, americantom.com, as a way to document small town bars and taverns. I have never knowingly reviewed chains or franchise bars and the mission has always been to seek out the bars that exist in some back alley of a small town.
Places that let locals blow off steam, gossip, drink and pass the time.
Morrie's is a great smalltown bar that is packed full of knick-knacks and history. The walls are dark from decades of smoke and like many Tennessee taverns - you can't get hard liquor.
What sets Morrie's apart from many bars is their friendliness to folks who are NOT locals. This is often a rare trait indeed.
The diverse group I was with was made to feel as at home as someone who drinks their every week. We learned the history of the bar, local gossip and even how to shoot shuffleboard.
Morrie's is a gem. I hope that it survives the current crappy economy and decrease in social drinking. Stop by and talk to the regulars. See the NASCAR items, jukebox that flips from one card to another and has some great classic country and the unique bottle lockers.
I know, without a doubt, that I will be coming back the next time I am in Millington.
