Provided by YP.comToday I chose to do something I normally wouldn’t. I went into a business that had wronged me and treated me poorly and hoped they would fix it. I would like to say my efforts were taken seriously and I had a positive experience, but truth is I didn’t.
Two days ago I made an appointment to have my brakes done and get an inspection. My brakes were taken care of but I was given a list of things that needed to be done to pass inspection, so I made an appointment for the next day to have them fixed and my car inspected. I was given a quote and a time and I was on my way.
The next day I showed up to have my car fixed, which I was told would take around 30 minutes. That is until Emil's friend came in and was serviced ahead of me. Over two hours later the work had finally been done, but I was told they wanted to drive my car to another garage for inspection while I waited there. Weird right? I went home to get my insurance card because I was told I needed it and when I returned to tell them I wanted them to honor my appointment and my time and have my car inspected there, the owner I was talking to (Emil) was gone. A mechanic came out to talk to me and said that Emil had left but would be back soon. I asked why my car couldn’t be inspected there because I made an appointment, and they are state certified to give inspections. He told me that’s what Emil usually does.... But I’m paying Boomer to do it (two businesses under one roof - father and son). I was told Boomer was busy and could no longer inspect my car. When I pushed the issue I was told my car would fail inspection, even after paying them to do the work they said was required to pass the day before. On top of that I was overcharged on my bill, and when I asked why I was told that they needed to take my entire trunk apart to change a light (a total lie, and I knew it). With a pit in my stomach I paid my bill, left, and immediately drove to another garage. The new garage told me what I already knew, that my car was able to pass inspection, and that I had been ripped off!! Today I went there when they opened. I went to the owner and told him I was unhappy they didn’t honor their quote, and that I knew they lied about the amount of work done to which he replied “Yeah, and...?” with a smirk. I said I went to another garage for a second opinion, and his demeanor immediately changed. He stood up “Now let me tell you something...” then my fiancé walked through the door, the owner stopped what he was saying and told me it was on the house and to leave. I informed him that I already paid so he asked what I wanted then he took money out of his wallet (a small portion of what I paid), threw it at me, and I was told to leave.
I only wanted to be treated fairly. I wanted work done for a fair price, I wanted to not be overcharged, and I definitely didn’t want to be lied to. I also didn’t want to be subjected to his sexist opinions of women and how we dress while I was there either.
So for those who are still reading I would strongly advise you to stay away from Emil’s/Boomer’s Auto Repair in Milton, VT.
