Provided by YP.comOMG--- I have been to this restaurant several times for the past few years. The two waitresses there are beyond rude. They are downright mean, nasty, and prejudice against "white" people.
Two years ago I started getting sick immediately after eating their egg foo yung---I finally figured out it was the MSG they put in. I was there once and heard a gentleman ask for a dish with NO MSG, so I decided to do that. Two or three times they took the order and I confirmed no MSG, and they said no MSG. I still got wick from it. Turns out, last year one of the waitresses told me MSG is in all their food, even the gravy. They do not serve anything without MSG in it. So, I stopped eating there last year and found a place on 76th and Beloit that has fresh food, delicious, and no MSG.
But a relative of mine still liked eating at Fortune, so I've gone a few times with her. I have always commented to her that the two waitresses (one skinny, one chubby) are not friendly, but the chubby one seemed a little less witchy. All I ordered there was soup and a vegetable egg roll. The veg egg roll came, and when I was cutting it up, there was something unidentifiable in it; it looked like a piece of pork, I called the waitress over and showed her, told her this was not a veggie egg roll. She argued for about five minutes with me about it, even though we could clearly see the shredded meat in it. She said it was just a vegetable---year, right. I was sick of arguing with her, so I asked her to just take it back and not charge me. Well, that really set off an attitude from her.
Then, four weeks ago I ordered the egg drop soup, thinking I was safe with that. WRONG!!! Stomach cramps for two hours immediately after eating it. Again, there was MSG in it.
I took my relative to this restaurant on New Year's Day, as she wanted to go there. I went to eat at Cousin's and said she could eat the Chinese, that I'd be right back. The waitress (chubby) refused to serve her the lunch or dinner selections, so she just ordered egg foo yung. When I came back to sit with her, she said the waitress refused to give her fried rice instead of white rice. I called the waitress over and asked if fried rice could be ordered instead of white. She went ballistic, yelling at me that she had already told her she would not switch the rice, it only came with white. I asked if they could just sub it, even if there was an extra charge. Again, she was actually yelling at me that it was a holiday and they did not serve off their lunch selections, that they were not a "McDonald's" or fast food restaurant. I told her that several sit-down restaurants have always accommodated any requests I asked for. I got sick of her yelling, so I just told her to forget it, that I would never be setting foot in the restaurant again. The whole time I sat there, both waitresses were just glaring at me. It was ridiculous, and I was chuckling the whole time about how stupid they acted and looked.
Apparently, a party of six had walked in to this place and wanted to order off the lunch menu; they were told it was a holiday so they did not have that menu available. The part of six just walked out----I think that was great! I hope this place loses business because of the service, the waitress' attitudes, and the food.
Two people I work with told me they tried eating at this restaurant just once; both times they were really sick. They never went back there.
About my comment in the beginning, that the staff is prejudice---every time a Chinese group came in to sit, the two waitresses smile, laugh, and talk with them. Never ONCE did I receive any interaction like that, from my very first visit.
I see that there are many comments about people who also had poor service from this place, and I hope the owner gets rid of these two witches and hires people without attitudes and childish acting grade schoolers.
EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!

Provided by YPmobileI came to this restaurant because my mom wanted to. I thought that I would just order what I usually eat that's considered Chinese. I ordered chicken lo mein with no onions and add broccoli. When she brings my food out. It is not lo mein noodles and she tried to tell me that it was. But the picture clearly was of something else. I personally wouldn't recommend this restaurant. And it isn't budget friendly. Well in my range.
