You Got Bailed Out, We Got Sold Out." In the fall of 2008, M&I Bank received $1.75 billion from the Bush Administration's Troubled Asset Relief Program(TARP). M&I then supported political candidates who chose to demand austerity from some of the same taxpayers whose funds helped "bail out" M&I Bank. Since the Bailout, M&I Has Paid NO TAXES claiming reported $1.5 billion in pre-tax losses and claimed $301 million in refunds from the US Treasury. While they can't seem to find the cash to support the US taxpayers that are their customers, 15 executives at M&I Bank will receive a combined total of $65 million in payouts and bonuses, opting to take the money and run rather than payback the citizens whose financial sacrifice saved their jobs.
