This is the second home from the 1920s that we have had the floors refinished. The first home we used Maxcare and they did a beautiful job. This time around (bc of how difficult Covid has been on local businesses) we decided to support small business in our community and use Ron & Russ's Flooring. There were red flags from the beginning that I won’t get into but I pushed them aside and we moved forward with the project. We were quoted $800 and 2 days worth of work. The first day of the job they were to arrive between 7-8am. They didn’t arrive until almost noon and then proceeded to try to lie and say they had been there earlier but couldn’t get in. There are cameras inside and outside of my home; this was a lie. They worked for three hours and then were done for the day. This type of schedule continued for the next 5 days. Watching our cameras back the workers took about 100 smoke breaks so they definitely were not in a rush to get my job completed in a timely manner. They also left cigarette butts in our yard and hot sauce packets and other food wrappers on my porch and driveway from their lunch. We were out of the home during their “work hours” so we left them a key. Watching the footage back of the days they were in our home I observed them exploring our home and making comments about valuable items and family photos. These were rooms and spaces that the floors were NOT being worked on and they had no business being in. The whole situation with them was troubling to say the least.
Poor and questionable work ethic aside the finished product is less than acceptable. The floor was not properly cleaned of sawdust before the clear poly was applied leaving areas that are grainy and raised. They assured me they could repair a split board “good as new” - they used large nails on the new board that look ridiculous.
There was ZERO communication from them regarding updates, issues, completion date ect. They never talked to us to ask if we were satisfied with the finished product. One day they just didn’t come back so I guess they were done? Then three days later they returned trying to get in my home (the key was not out for them). Abel left a note saying that the job was STILL not complete and asked me to leave the key out again; after all this I certainly didn’t want to but I did. It didn’t matter because they never came back anyway. No phone call from them. No follow-up. They left large, new sandpaper rolls behind which I’m sure I was charged for. The job took three additional days than what we were quoted and when the bill showed up it was $1000 more than our quote- no explanation. Then while we were weighing our options in what action to take (legal or otherwise) they harassed us constantly with incredibly rude voicemails demanding to be paid immediately.
Allowing contractors into your home is not something to be taken lightly. Ron & Russ's Flooring operated in a manner that made us feel unsafe and certainly unsatisfied.

I have never delt with such poor customer service. You have to chase the owners to get back to you.

First off they did not use the vacuum system which eleminates airborne dust, that was promised to us from the representative. This was one of the reasons why we chose Ron and Russ's Flooring. We had dust everywhere. We understand that there would be some dust but not what we had to deal with. When we called the owners, they told us that their representative was new and we were misinformed.

They did not abide by the contract. (They did not apply the satin finish that is in our contract.)
The refinish and stain was very poorly applied. Areas missed, blotches and swirls with scratches over the entire floor.

I requested an owner to come and look at the work but they felt that they stand by their guys and that their record is that " 9 out of 10 people say their work is absolute."
They are not coming out to look at the floor. They expressed that - "as far as industry standards go - this is aceptable."

My husband and I thought we would try a smaller business, one in the area. We are so sorry we chose Ron and Russ's Flooring.

As far as the owner is concerned, "they did as much as they can for us."

I would NEVER recommend Ron and Russ's Flooring.

Beware!!! Absolutely horrible! Refinished hardwood floor in living room and hallway. They installed a shoe around the room that was obviously NOT stained or sealed. Owners, Ron and Russ, refused to come and look at work but insisted it was done properly. I stained the shoe myself without having to sand so it was obviously NOT even sealed. They also installed tile in my bathroom along with a new base board. The supposed new baseboard was spray painted white (you can even see places they missed the paint) which is not the right method. In addition, the supposed new baseboard is very dirty. The dirt marks DO NOT wipe off because the wood was not painted properly. Again, the owners refused to come out and look at the job. They just kept saying their workers did everything right. I now have to repaint my new baseboard. They also used tape to block off my kitchen and the tape ripped sections of my wallpaper off of my kitchen walls. They refused to deal with us and just insisted they be paid for the work. They are the worst company I have ever had to deal with. DO NOT USE Ron and Russ Flooring.!!!
