I'm Jess Shively and I am a graduate from Jackson-Milton High School. I want to give you a little background on where I'm from and how I got to this point in my career. My passion for the ice cream business started years ago when I was just a senior in high school. I had been working at a local DQ and really loved what I was doing. I started my college career in the medical field, which is what I thought would be the best career for me. However, as time progressed I changed my career path because my heart was (and is) in Hospitality Management. Where did the name Dairy Cove come from? In trying to find names I liked, close friends and family were helping me search for names. We went through several and finally came up with Dairy Cove and just knew that was it! Some have asked where "Jesy" came from since I go by Jess. My Pappy and Grammy have always called me Jesy, because, when they nicknamed me, they wanted something different. When telling my Gram about my new adventure, she was so excited for me and so supportive. In talking to her, she said "what are you going to name it?" At the time it was just "Dairy Cove." Grammy pointed out that Jesy isn't something that you see spelled like that often and that Pappy would have really liked having my name in the title. I agreed and so it became "Jesy's Dairy Cove" in the honor of my Gram and in memory of my Pappy. I couldn't be happier with how it has turned out! Becoming the owner of "Jesy's Dairy Cove" has been the best thing for me and makes me truly happy. Moving into Mineral Ridge has also been an incredible new adventure. I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a part of the Ridge Community and to meet and interact with new people. Our first day on February 5, 2015, was one of the best days of my life! The Cove really is a family business, and having a family business is a tradition that I am proud to continue. My grandfather (Pappy), Al Baker, owned Baker-Moore-Baker in Lake Milton with my uncles, Tom and Bob Baker. My grandfather (PaHa), Harold Shively, owned Shively Sales and Service in downtown Niles with my uncle, Donald Shively. The dealership originally belonged to my great-grandfather, George Shively. Much like my Gram and Pappy, I know that my PaHa and Grandma Shively would be so proud to see us working together to make the dream of Jesy's Dairy Cove become a reality. I would like to thank ALL of my family and friends for their help and support throughout this process. Finally I would like to thank all of my customers. You have welcomed me into the community and I am beyond thankful! I wouldn't be here without your support! See you at "The Cove!"
