The Brave New Workshop Theatre, founded in 1958, writes, performs and produces original sketch comedies, and music and comedy improvisations. The company operates two theatres in Minneapolis, which is home to operations, live performances, and the Brave New Institute. The Brave New Institute is the theatre's school for improvisation, acting and writing classes. The Brave New Workshop also brings its writing, acting, musical, and teaching talents to more than 150 companies and organizations each year. Its alumni include successful and influential members of the entertainment industry, such as Al Franken, Pat Proofs, Mo Collins, Peter MacNichol, Louie Anderson, and Jeff Cesario. The BNW theatre and its school for improvisational acting, are nonprofit entities, and is headquartered in Minneapolis.
