Provided by YP.comMet with Property Manager named "Jeff". The 1st time I scheduled a meeting he never showed and placed blame on me for forgetting the time. 2nd time scheduled a meeting about a 2 bedroom on near como. Arrived at the location to find out it was sold. The owner insisted I buy a 3 bedroom there instead and then asked me if I could afford it. I asked about subleasing Jeff stated "Yes, you can but it cost too much". I went to fill out the application for Jeff for the 3 bedroom, But found out later that I would need the down payment at that moment. I repeatedly asked Jeff prior to meeting what would I need for filling out the application and he stated he just needed a paystub and ID, $40 app fee. Jeff stated in the interview that "I needed to clean my ears out" also he does not have time to check his phone because he is managing 36 properties...Overall very bad experience just trying to rent an simple apartment. The place needs to be reported.

Provided by YPmobileI'm writing this review because I'm hoping to save someone from making a dreadful mistake and signing a lease with Girard, they deserve less than one star. I live in Lakesbury apartment located a 127 w lake. First the positives about this place. The location is very convenient. It's a ten minute walk into uptown and a ten minute bus ride into downtown. Rent is affordable, and the management leaves you alone. The negatives are so many it's hard to name them all but here are a few examples.
1. Cockroaches
2. Mice
3. The apartment has incredibly thin walls and hard wood floors. If your sensitive to banging sounds throughout the day and night you will be in hell.
4. Girard rents units out to people who do not live in the apartment. Ex. Women rents unit for "daycare" ends up being a gathering point for a dozen Somali males from 1-6am everday.
5. Maintenance services are hard to come by. There was a large storm in June of 2013 and water damage is still seen in the hallways and units.
6. The parking spaces are $25 a month and at least a dozen times a month someone is parked in your spot. Many times I have dealt with aggressive people looking to argue over my spot.
If your homeless (and hopeless) Girard management could be a step up for you, anyone be advised to look elsewhere.

Provided by YP.comLike the person below, I live in Cedar Commons, which USED to be an amazing place to live (Sidal was awesome). Now, I feel like I am merely a paycheck to our new management company, Girard. I can NEVER reach them. I've had to deal with all problems on my own because they ignore me after me leaving messages and emailing, and their website isn't working, won't allow me to make service requests. Huge draft in my living room? Guess I'll patch the dime sized hole myself.... They never tell you what's going on. They still have signs in my building referring to the rental office which DOESN'T EXIST anymore! Get your act together Girard, before you ruin a wonderful place to live even further!

Provided by YP.comMy complex, Cedar Commons recently got bought by this company, the few interactions I have had with them have not been the best. They are terrible at communicating with the residents. All of the washers were not working in my building for like a week, but they never told the residents or put out of order signs up, so no one knew if they worked or not. The call center staff are not knowledgeable about things and are just a middleman you have to go through to get something fixed. I loved where I lived until I had to deal with this management company.

Provided by YP.comAvoid anything Girard Management owned. Terrible customer service and follow-up. Just speak with their contracted maintenance people. They all say the same thing. The heat is incredibly inconsistent in the winter, they throttle it when it's cold in the spring as well. Any maintenance call gets low priority. We are still waiting on action on one of the calls we made 8 months ago! We had water leaking from our ceiling in the living room. Called twice...they still havent come out to fix it/repaint the ceiling. We had a leaky tub faucet for weeks before they finally arrived. We had bats in our apartment one night and we called for assistance in getting them out and they told us it would have to wait until Monday. NICE! Washing machines continue to break and eat your coins. At 1.50 per load ($3 if you count trying that load) you'd expect to get clean clothes. No. They are the dirtiest washing machines I've ever seen. And finally...don't even get me started on the cockroaches. The building is infested and they will not do anything about it. We have to kill 1-2 on a daily basis. If you didnt know...those can carry salmonella but nobody at Girard seems to care. Oh and if they misplace YOUR check, they will accuse you of not paying rent.... Just avoid Girard all together.

Provided by YP.comI am a current resident at 2421 Pillsbury ave s, A Girard Management Property. I have lived here for the last 5 years. It is an affordable apartment in a pretty convenient area. I have had numerous issues with this apartment and management company. I would tell anyone who was looking at renting a Girard Management Apartment to avoid them at all costs. Since I have lived here the apartment has had numerous mice and cockroach infestations. This area is a crime hotspot. Police and firefighter sirens are constantly going off on the block. There are numerous halfway houses within a couple of block radius which has really brought down the area. There was a break-in to my across the hall neighbors apartment where someone broke their window (directly in front of the building first floor) and robbed belongings from there apartment. There was a fight in the lawn of the apartment building that left a man unconscious in our driveway. There have been numerous fights in the alley along with suspected gang activity. My friend got robbed for his backpack at the bus stop less then a block from the apartment building The police have been to this building more times then I can count. On a couple of different occasions Girard Management has done construction very early in the morning right outside of the residents windows without any prior notification and when this issue was brought up to them they continued to do the same thing. They took away the residents private parking spots and made them “first come first serve” without any notification. The walls and doors are very thin and neighbors are extremely noisy. You can hear people going to the bathroom when you are in your bedroom. When the hot water runs in some of the apartments a loud high pitched humming noise permeates thoughout the building. They have had an ongoing security problem which stems from people propping open the front and back doors of the building throughout the day and night, This issue has been brought to the attention of the management company and they haven't been able to resolve this. The apartment buzzer barely has worked for 5 years and because of this packages rarely get delivered and it is almost certain you will have to go pick up your package from the carrier. The washers and dryers in the building are disgusting and as a resident you will most likely have to go to a laundromat. The management office is extremely disorganized and rude. Scott Krzmarzick who is the operations manager is in my opinion one of the most unprofessional and erratic individuals I have ever encountered. He has hung up on me mid-sentence when I questioned their policies and has been completely irrational on many levels. I would never rent, do business, or recommend anyone do any transactions with Girard Management. I am submitting this review in hopes that I will save some people from living in misery.
