Johnson's has always done me right -- from their friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful staff to their stocking of a great variety of products to their topnotch, affordable repair service. I can't understand the negative comments posted here. My experience with Johnson's has always been pleasant and productive. One could only wish that there were more stores like this one around today. They will always be my go-to hardware store for the above reasons.

With a particularly bad winter in Mpls , I found that Johnsons was fortunate to have a large supply of Roof ice melt , Along with a handwritten sign asking at least 25% more than other stores , I t is my opinion the price goes up with snow fall , kinda of predatory for a neighborhood store .....they were close so I had no choice . I wont be back

I purchased a $800 Toro snowblower from Johnson Hardware 12/24/09. Last year, I had problems with the cord freezing up. I called the hardware store and was told I would have to bring it inside and warm it up. Really, you need to warm up a snowblower. This year I am having the same problem. Before every use, I bring the snowblower in my house, stink the house up like gas; open the windows, crank up the furnance and throw money out the windows.I called the store manager today and told him what is going on. He saw no problem with me having to thaw out my snowblower before each use. I told him I was doing the freeze prevention tips in the manual and it is still freezing up. I asked if this isn't a defect to which he replied I was expecting too much from my snowblower - expecting it to work, should I expect less? He repeatedly called me "dear" which was quite condescending. He flat out told me he wasn't going to do anything about it. I will not shop there again.

I bought a $860.00 Toro snowblower. The system worked fine for 20 minutes. The auger stop turning when I went into heavy snow becuase the belt was slipping. I did the adjustments to the belt system as stated in the manual and the belt kept slipping. I contacted Johnson hardware service dept and they said bring the belt in. When they compared the belt to a new one you could see the belt had stretched. They told me that I would have pay for the new belt after 20 minutes of use. I asked them to repeat that and they said I would have to pay for the new belt. This snowblower was 7 days old and there was 20 minutes on the belt. Completely unacceptable. Never buy from there again.

do you know the average hardness of a shear bolt ( not all have slots) it's grade two in few new cases like Toro it's grade five. and your terminology doesn't sound like your a trained service technician. when ever in doubt you can contest a warranty with the manufacturer of your machine, which is in the manual but im sure you read that already. also check for a reputable dealer for that brand

I love how they have the best prices around and how you can get help with even one .25 cent screw! They give you the home town feel and like you have known them forever. The lawn mower repair is a big blessing since lawn mowers seem to break down every year and it only cost me $10 to get it fixed!

Buyer beware! This shady hardware store/small-engine repair shop was identified sabotaging a customer's snow-blower to create revenue. Upon servicing this 5HP MTD snow-blower for an issue unrelated to starting, this snowblower suddenly would not start. The customer's inspection of the spark plug revealed that it was not the new manufacture recommended spark plug that he, himself, had recently installed, but a badly fouled and incompatible substitute that had not been authorized for installation, nor called for in the work order. Further inspection by the customer of the serviced snowblower revealed that a shear bolt had been replaced by Johnson Hardware with a solid-shaft steel bolt--one that could insure that when the impeller becomes jammed (as it is prone to do under certain load or circumstance), extensive and costly damage to the machine would likely result with the customer back for another servicing contract. The customer in this case restored the tampered snowblower back t
