PACER Center offers a wide range of social and welfare services to children and adults with physical and mental disabilities. Founded in 1977, PACER Center was created by parents of children and youth with disabilities to assist other families facing similar challenges. It is staffed primarily by parents of children with disabilities and works in coalition with more than 15 organizations throughout the United States. The center organizes a variety of projects, such as Baby Welcome, early childhood intervention, surrogate parents services and the American Indian Project. It also organizes other projects that include drafting strategies for work force inclusion and family training, and health information and advocacy. The center also organizes other programs, including guidance and counseling for children with emotional and behavioral disorders. It additionally organizes workshops, and classes in individual training and special education. PACER Center is located in Minneapolis.
