I became more injured because of Reliable's laziness.

A year ago my physician recommended strongly that I use an electric wheelchair and I went through long appointments with PT amd Reliable for testing, fit, drivability. etc. I needed one functional modification, that though widely used internationally, the Reliable representative Bobbie had not sold before. The first time around, she said it was my responsibility to coordinate between the devise manufacturer and their manufacturer to set up the install of the adjustment. At the time I did not know it was preposterous to demand the patient be involved in between wheelchair vendor, manufacturer and adaptation manufacturer. Though I provided contact information and tried to navigate through during the already stressful time of trying to accept a life which involved an electric wheelchair, when I became overwhelmed and Bobbie blamed me, I accepted responsibility and lost the 6 month insurance window. As a result of not having the chair and continually falling, I ended up with a host of temporary and some permanent injuries that I had not had and would not have had if I had received my wheelchair when first told by my physician. My entire ability to do activities of daily living can be directly and fully linked to this year period from when my healthcare system introduced Reliable as my wheelchair vendor until today. My daily life, for the rest of my life will be diminished because of injuries I sustained from falls that would not have happened had Reliable taken responsibility as the vendor for having all of the adaptations done, or if for some reason not been able, to step aside as the vendor rather than put the responsibility on the patient. After ending up in the hospital from a fall-related injury, I tried again to get the electric wheelchair. The hospital system which I use seems to use Reliable almost exclusively, a practice I now deeply question, as I was not even told I had a right to select a vendor. Bobbie was contacted, and spent weeks delaying the process, to find out she had not even retained accurate records from all of the specification work I had completed before. Then, after not returning calls to OT/PT, she again refused to be involved in assisting with the adaptation, even to the point of alluding falsely that my physician no longer supported the chair and modifications.Taking matters into my own hands, I found that all of the contacts, makes, and even models regarding this one feature were widely available online. Even after I provided all of the links, phone numbers and more, Bobbie still insisted it was my job as the patient to play middle-man.First, this will probably be a $25,000 chair. As a business person I am astounded at a salesperson's refusal to do a tiny bit more work to finalize the sale. As a patient, patient advocate, and spouse of healthcare professional, I am appalled that not only was I not treated with any dignity or respect, but that she abused her position to the point of causing direct patient harm, and deep distress during a tremendously difficult time, as surely the first life change into an electric wheelchair must be for anyone.I have a chronic condition, so over the course of a lifetime I have dealt with probably thousands of healthcare providers, support staff and vendors. I have also had hundreds of healthcare providers and patient groups as clients over the years in my profession. Through all of that I can say without hesitation my experience with reliable medical has been my worst personal experience by far, been the one that has clearly caused me the most direct, and knowing harm, and led me for the first time ever to publicly rate a company in not only a non-favorable way...but to urge patients and caregivers that if your provider steers you to Reliable Medical- insist for your own care in another vendor. You have that right.

Reliable Medical is the best of the best!

Thank You Reliable Medical, The poem is a token of my thanks, Just last month a part on my breathing apparatus broke & one of you assocciates had it to me in a half an hour. I fell safe & well taken care of!THANK YOU!It’s been a long and winding road,We have walked it all together.Reliable Medical and MDA,Work together to make lives better. This road is sometimes dreary and painful,Yet you offer smiles when I am blue.Wonderful people like Alicia in sales,Who’s so nice that I smile too. From all of the guys who daily repair.Though I’m never treated like a number. To all of my friends in respiratory care,It because of you I safely slumber.I cannot thank you enough,For all you do for MDA.All the ways you help and give,This poem can never convey.I have not much to give,So these words I leave with you.The impact your kindness has is enormous. Thanks for all you do.Robert.
