Seamstress was clueless

Before I met with the seamstress personally at this Sew What location, I brought in my curtains and measurements and a photo of what I wanted, and showed it to a woman who explained she was just an assistant. She wrote up my ticket and seemed to understand what I asked for and said she would have the seamstress call me. Well a week went by and I never got a phone call from the seamstress. So I went there after work a week later, and the seamstress was there. She seemed to think I wanted 4 curtains made from two larger curtains. So apparently her "assistant" didn't know what I was asking for, but never spoke up to ask me for clarification. Imagine my horror if I had not gone there myself to speak directly to the seamstress. I'd have 4 smaller curtains, not measured properly, which wasn't even what I'd asked for. What I'd asked for was to make two tie-up curtains from two floor length curtains. Simple enough task, I thought. Apparently not because when I finally went to meet with the seamstress there after work, and explained to her exactly what I wanted, she admitted that she was completely clueless about how to sew a tie-up shade curtain, even with measurements and a printed photo of a tie-up shade that I brought in for reference. What she asked me next shocked me. She had the gall to suggest that I go and BUY a tie-shade curtain from Target so that she could use that as a guide, which I thought was a ridiculous request. Essentially, I'd be out the cost of store bought tie-up shade curtain (unless I returned it), and hope that the seamstress at this Sew What location knew what she was doing. Why would I spend extra money to teach a seamstress how to sew? Couldn't she look up a tie-up shade or go buy one herself to use as a guide? Why is that my responsibility as the customer. Anyone who calls themselves a seamstress should darn well know how to sew a variety of items, and if not, have the intelligence to get their own reference material instead of requiring the customer to spend extra money to get a reference item like I was asked to do. If I knew how to sew I'd do it myself. Needless to say I will NEVER use that Sew What location again for any of my sewing needs. I'm extremely disappointed with the way I was treated, and the two weeks I had to wait for an answer that the seamstress just didn't know how to sew what I asked for. Unbelievable! I rated this location one star for lack of professionalism and lack of knowledge.

This place looks brand new

I went to this place on a whim one day to get a dress shortend for my daughter. She needed the dress in two days for a dance so I decided to take my chances. My first impression...the place looks nice and clean and by the number of clothes haning from the rack you can tell they are busy. It smelled a bit of dirty clothes. The woman who pinned my daughters dress was a mom herself and helped settle a dispute over how short the dress could be. I was really happy when I left the store. When I came back to pick it up although there was a rush charge the pricing was about normal for the amount of alterations I had done. It took me about two min. to get out of there with the finished product. My daughter looked beautiful on the day of her dance(and appropriate too...with not too short of a dress!).

Got what I needed, and got it how I wanted it

Went here to get a pair of pants hemmed (though I didn't know what that meant till they told me!), and a shirt dry cleaned, for a wedding I had to attend. Was treated kindly and everything turned out great. I found the prices to be plenty reasonable. I will go there next time I need help.
