Don't you just love the smell of a used bookstore? How about one with staff ready to help at a moment's notice? This is your place.

Best place to go for any Sci Fi title new or old. If you want to find a favorite book and can't remember the name just find one of the helpful staff members and summarize the plot and 9 times out of 10 they can give you the title and where to find it on the shelf. Its my favorite place to go on a cold afternoon.

I now live in North Dakota and always plan on visiting Uncle Edgar's and Uncle Hugo's when I am in the Cities. If I can't make the trip I have had wonderful service when calling or emailing in my requests. I have been a customer since the very beginning and highly recommend them for friendly and fast service.

OK, I'm not saying we flew out from Virginia just to see Uncle Hugo's, but it was definitely at the top of my list (and my wife is an Edgar fan). If you want it, they most probably have it, and in several editions. They have shelves of 1950s Astounding Science Fiction back-issues the way we have stacks of last week's Washington Post that haven't yet hit the recycling bin. And at very reasonable prices! The only problem we had with shopping there was how to fit it our purchases into the suitcase, and into our overcrowded bookshelves once we got home. If Michelin awarded bookshop stars Uncle Hugo's would definitely "mérite une visite."

I've been shopping at Uncle Hugo's/Uncle Edgars for at least 25-30 years - they've always been my favorite bookstore. When I lived overseas, they were my lifeline! The discount card is a great value, and the newsletter is fantastic - it includes reviews as well as forthcoming books. Very helpful staff, too. Highly recommended!

If there is a heaven for hardcore readers of SF, Fantasy and Mysteries, I am guessing that it looks something like Uncle Hugos. Like its sister store, Uncle Edgars, Uncle Hugos has a marvelous selection of new and used titles that reach up to the ceiling. Even better, the staff who work there clearly love the genre, and are great at answering "What do I read next?" questions. When you visit, be sure to check out the staff recommendations shelves and find yourself some wonderful reads.
