This is a terrible credit union.

They apply a $5 monthly service fee for account dormancy. What a racket! You can imagine how many accounts go dormant since most of the customers are college students from other states.

Instead of sending out a letter suggesting that a former student go ahead and close their account to avoid the fees, they simply start assessing them. They cheerfully suggested on the phone that this was reasonable since the student was given this information when they opened the account. Six years earlier. When they were 18. And just starting a new school and leaving home for the first time.

SEND A WARNING LETTER BEFORE YOU START COLLECTING FEES! After 7 years of dormancy, they submit to the state of Indiana a claim that you owe them $100. This is not the way to do business and make friends and loyal customers.

Much better to go with a service oriented institute like Discover Bank or Capital One 360. These banks have No Minimum Balance! And the students will never outgrow them.

Bad business practices, NDFCU! They should live up to the name Notre Dame or that name should be taken from them.
