I would not recommend Mission Pet Mart. We took our golden retriever there to be groomed. He came back ungroomed because I was told he was scared of the clippers. I did not get a call about this, yet I was still charged because they "bathed and brushed" him. The groomer was not there when I picked him up, so I am unsure as to what "scared" looks like. They kept him from 8:30 until 4:30 for a bath. When I picked him up, he also appeared to have not been let out. I would recommend taking your pet elsewhere.

an employees perspective

I've worked at mission pet mart for a total of 6 years, and have a great deal of pride in saying that. We may not be the fanciest pet shop around, but the service we offer and the lengths we go to to insure our customers and their pets get what they need is pretty much unparalleled. It has to be in order for a small mom and pop to survive as long as we have is a testament to that. Look, everyone makes mistakes and has bad days. We're human. As much as it pains me to say it, making every single person that comes through our doors happy just isn't possible. However that is without a doubt our overall mission. In regards to Chad. That man has compassion rarely exhibited these days. He took a real chance on me and put up with me when I was at my very lowest. I owe him a great deal. Believe me, I know exactly how rough he is around the edges! Like I said everyone has bad days.

***PLEASE SHARE*** We had a HORRIBLE experience at Mission Pet Mart on Broadway last night. On Thursday, 1/9/13, we took our precious dog, Pan, in for a routine grooming appointment. When we picked her up that afternoon she was very scared and shivering. After a weekend of worrying, Monday morning Pan was really scratching her ear. After looking at it the underneath flap was swollen and had red blisters. I immediately called Mission Pet Mart and a man named Chad answered the phone. I expressed my concerns and asked if anything had happened on Thursday when she was groomed, that she had been acting sick ever since and his response was that it was probably an ear infection of some kind and we should take her to the vet. That dog grooming can be stressful sometimes and might have turned a low grade infection into something bigger, but that it definitely wouldn’t have been anything they would have done. At Banfield Pet Hospital the vet tech quickly noticed that the bow, put in the dog’s hair by the groomer, was wrapped around her ear!!!! Not just the hair like it should be, but actually wrapped around her ear!! It was cutting the circulation off. They had to cut the bow off, give her a steroid shot, and treat the wounds. After realizing it was completely the groomers fault, my grandfather and I went back to Mission Pet Mart to show them Pan’s ear and let them know what happened. Chad, who turned out to be the owner of the store, was extremely rude and ridiculously unprofessional. He was immediately defensive saying there was no way it could have been his groomer or their rubber bands. After explaining the vet visit and telling him that he could call the vet to verify what I was saying as true, he said he’d do that. She was with a patient so we waited in the store for her to call back. During this time Chad and my grandfather argued back and forth. While my grandfather can be aggravating at times, I do NOT believe it is ever appropriate to argue with a customer, especially in front of other customers. Here’s the worst part of all… Chad used the exact words “Mother F'r” referring to my grandfather, and with his finger in my grandfather’s face he said “I am not afraid to go to prison.” THE OWNER OF THE STORE SAID THIS!!!!! I am devastated and horrified that this man owns a store dealing with customers and animals when he clearly has NO respect for either!! After about 30 minutes and an obviously heated argument, the vet called back and CONFIRMED that it WAS caused by the bow and that she did in fact have to cut the rubber banded bow off of her ear. The owner reluctantly gave me $84.09 for the treatment and prescription, but felt like he shouldn’t have to pay the office visit fee or give me the money back for my poor excuse of a grooming. Please, please, please help me spread the word to protect yourself and your pets by NOT coming to this store!! Tell everyone you know so as many people as possible can see this!
