The Housing Authority of the City of Mission administers public housing assistance programs, promotes the development of affordable housing opportunities and encourages economic self-sufficiency. It administers the Family Self-Sufficiency program, which helps public and assisted housing residents achieve economic independence. The authority runs an after-school drug elimination program that provides information about the ill effects of various mood altering chemicals, such as alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and other drugs. It also provides after-school tutoring, educational programs and scholarships, as well as opportunities for residents to participate in volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer and flag football. The Housing Authority of the City of Mission is located in Mission, Texas.
